AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMECULA
AMENDING SECTION NO. 2.40.030 OF THE TEMECULA MUNICIPAL CODE
PERTAINING TO TERM LIMITS FOR CITY COMMISSIONERS.
THE FOLLOWING COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF TEMECULA DOES HEREBY
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Findings. The City Council for the City of Temecula hereby finds the
following:
A. That there is a need to amend Section 2.40.030 setting term limits for City
Commissioners.
B. Several current Commissioners will be forced to resign unless this ordinance is
amended.
C. The resignation of these Commissioners would result in the City losing a wealth of
knowledge and history regarding various City projects and could potentially impact the quality
' of review that projects currently receive at the commission level.
Section 2. Section 2.040.030 of the Temecula Municipal Code is hereby amended to
read: "Unless otherwise specifically provided by law, or by ordinance or resolution of the city
council, all members of commissions of the city shall, at all times during their incumbencies,
be bona fide residents and registered voters of the city. No member of any commission shall
be a city employee, nor shall any person be a member of more than one commission at any
one time ".
Section 3. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty (30) days after its
passage. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance. The City Clerk shall
publish a summary of this Ordinance and a certified copy of the full text of this Ordinance
shall be posted in the office of the City Clerk at least five days prior to the adoption of this
Ordinance. Within 15 days from adoption of this Ordinance, the City Clerk shall publish a
summary of this Ordinance, together with the names of the Councilmembers voting for and
against the Ordinance, and post the same in the office of the City Clerk.

foregoing Ordinance No. 96 -08 was duly introduced and placed upon its first reading at a
regular meeting of the City Council on the 23rd day of April, 1996 and that thereafter, said
Ordinance was duly adopted and passed at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Temecula on the 14th of May, 1996, by the following vote:
