RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TEM[ECULA REQUESTING THAT THE
COUNTY OF RIVERSIDE NOT ASSESS THE CITY
OF TEM[ECULA FOR STRUCTURAL FIRE
PROTECTION PURSUANT TO SECTION 25643 OF
THE CALIFORNIA GOVERNMEENT CODE
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Temecula, in a regular session
assembled on the 23rd day of February, 1993, pursuant to California Government Code, Section
25643, the City of Temecula declares that the City of Temecula is providing fire protection
services within its own jurisdiction, and requests that the County of Riverside not assess
properties within the City during the following fiscal year and any year thereafter for any portion
of the costs of County fire protection services, except for the costs set forth in Part 2 of Division
IV of the California Public Resources Code.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Riverside is hereby respectfully requested to cause the transfer to the City of Temecula, at the
earliest feasible and legal date, that portion of the tax for structural fire protection services which
is collected from and is attributable to properties within the City of Temecula, it being
understood by the City Council that such transfer may be subject to legally required conditions.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Temecula hereby adopts the resolution
to withdraw from the Structural Fire Tax Program subject to the City and the County mutually
agreeing on financial, legal, and procedural matters relating to the transfer of structural fire taxes
by June 22, 1993. In the event the City and the county are unable to mutually agree on these
matters, this resolution shall be decreed null, void, and has no impact.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 23rd day of February, 1993.
