A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TEMECULA, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING TEMPORARY
PARTIAL STREET CLOSURES OF BUSINESS PARK DRIVE
AND SINGLE OAK DRIVE FOR THE TEMECULA CYCLING
CLASSIC EVENT ON JUNE 8, 2003, AND AUTHORIZING THE
CITY ENGINEER TO ISSUE PERMITS FOR THESE SPECIFIC
SPECIAL EVENT
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMECULA DOES RESOLVE, DETERMINE
AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, The California State Vehicular Code provides for the promulgation of rules
and regulations for the temporary closure of public streets by local authorities by Resolution;
and,
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish rules and regulations for the temporary
closure of public streets in the interest of promoting safety and protection; and,
WHEREAS, The City of Temecula desires to authorize the partial closure of public
streets for the Temecula Cycling Classic Event, for which such temporary street closures
promote the safety and protection of persons using or proposing to use those streets for the
special event: and,
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to facilitate the issuance of permission to
temporarily close portions of public streets for the Temecula Cycling Classic Event on June 8,
2003: and,
NOW, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to authorize the City Engineer to approve
temporary partial street closures for the Temecula Cycling Classic Cycling Event, and to
establish the general rule that all other proposed temporary street closures shall be reviewed
and approved subject to conditions, or disapproved, by the City Council; and,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Temecula, hereby
authorizes the City Engineer to permit temporary partial street closures for the Temecula
Cycling Classic Bike Event on June 8, 2003, and establishes the general rule that all other
temporary public street closures shall be approved or denied approval by the City Council.
