RESOLUTION NO. 04-21
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TEMECULA SUPPORTING PROPOSITION NOS. 57 AND 58
WHICH SUPPORT BALANCING THE STATE BUDGET AND
PREVENTING FUTURE DEFICITS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMECULA DOES RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND
ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, Proposition 57 titled, "The Economic Recovery Bond Acf' is on the ballot for
March 2nd and;
WHEREAS, Proposition 58 titled, "The Califomia Balanced Budget Acf' is on the ballot for
California is also on the ballot for March 2nd and;
WHEREAS, Proposition 57 proposes the State borrow up to $15 billion dollars to retire
accumulated deficits from the 2002-03 and 2003-04 state budgets and;
WHEREAS, Proposition 57 can only take place if Proposition 58, which requires the State to
balance a budget, also passes and;
WHEREAS, Proposition 58 proposes a constitutional limit on spending that is intended to
prevent the State from ever running a deficit again and;
WHEREAS, Proposition 57 & 58 have been previously supported by the League of California
Cities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City of Temecula hereby supports
Proposition 57 & 58 and directs the City Council to notify appropriate legislators/stake holders ofthe
support of the passage of this resolution.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED, by the City Council of the City of Temecula at a
regular meeting held on the 24th day of February, 2004.
