HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-027 CC Resolution I I I RESOLUTION NO. 04-27 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMECULA, AUTHORIZING TEMPORARY STREET CLOSURE OF THIRD STREET BETWEEN OLD TOWN FRONT STREET AND MURRIETA CREEK FOR THE OLD TOWN BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL EVENT SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 20 AND 21, 2004 AND AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER TO ISSUE A SPECIAL EVENTS PERMIT INCLUDING STREET CLOSURES THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMECULA DOES RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, the California State Vehicular Code provides for the promulgation of rules and regulations for the temporary closure of public streets by local authorities by Resolution; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish rules and regulations for the temporary closure of public streets in the interest of promoting safety and protection; and WHEREAS, the City of Temecula sponsors the Old Town Bluegrass Festival event, for which such temporary street closure on Third Street between Old Town Front Street and the Murrieta Creek promotes the safety and protection of persons using or proposing to use that street for the special event; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to facilitate the issuance of permission to temporarily close Third Street for the Old Town Bluegrass Festival event scheduled for March 20 and 21, 2004; and, NOW, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to authorize the Director of Public Works/City Engineer to approve the temporary street closure of Third Street for the Old Town Bluegrass Festival event, and to establish the general rule that all other proposed temporary street closures shall be reviewed and approved subject to conditions, or disapproved, by the City Council; and THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Temecula, hereby authorizes the Director of Public Works/City Engineer to permit the temporary street closure of Third Street for the Old Town Bluegrass Festival event scheduled for March 20 and 21, 2004, and affirms the general rule that all other temporary public street closures shall be approved or denied approval by the City Council.
