HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-100 CC Resolution I I I RESOLUTION NO. 04-100 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMECULA, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING TEMPORARY PARTIAL STREET CLOSURES FOR INLAND EMPIRE "RACE FOR THE CURE" EVENT ON OCTOBER 17, 2004, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY ENGINEER TO ISSUE PERMIT FOR THIS SPECIFIC SPECIAL EVENT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMECULA DOES RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, The California State Vehicular Code provides for the promulgation of rules and regulations for the temporary closure of public streets by local authorities by Resolution; and, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish rules and regulations for the temporary closure of public streets in the interest of promoting safety and protection; and, WHEREAS, The City of Temecula desires to authorize the partial closure of public streets for the Inland Empire Inaugural "Race for the Cure" Event sponsored by The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer FoundationfTemecula Chapter, for which such temporary street closures promote the safety and protection of persons using or proposing to use those streets for the special event: and, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to facilitate the issuance of permission to temporarily close public streets for the Inland Empire Temecula "Race for the Cure" on Sunday, October 17, 2004 from 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM, possibly longer to allow everyone to finish the race: and, NOW, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to authorize the City Engineer to approve temporary street closures for the Inland Empire "Race for the Cure" sponsored by The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer FoundationfTemecula Chapter, and to establish the general rule that all other proposed temporary street closures shall be reviewed and approved subject to conditions, or disapproved, by the City Council; and, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Temecula, hereby authorizes the City Engineer to permit temporary street closures for the Inland Empire "Race for the Cure" Event on Sunday, October 17, 2004 from 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM, possibly longer to allow everyone to finish the race.
