COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION April 14, 1997 I'm truly sorry that I was not able to attend tonight's Commission meeting. My son is flying to Voorburg, Holland this evening, and I felt it was important for me to say good-bye to him before he leaves for nine (9) days. If it wasn't for this trip, I would definitely be here tonight to speak to you personally. Over the past nine months, I had said that Measure C was the most important issue the City had faced since incorporation. I still feel that way, and am convinced that ten or twenty years from now, the City ofTemecula will be a better place to live and work because of what was done by the individuals that are in this room tonight. . Many may forget your names or even what you did as time goes on. But that's O.K., because none ofus ever got into this field for personal recognition or fame, or the money (right Jeff) but rather, to invest in our community to make it a better place for our kids, our adults, and our senior citizens. I want to personally thank Jeff Stone and Jeff Comerchero for their leadership on the Yes on C committee; thank the Chamber of Commerce and the CRC Foundation for their continued support of our department and the City ofTemecula, thank Darrell Connerton for his efforts in the telephone campaign that helped bring us over the top, and finally, thank our staff, the best staff anywhere, who volunteered their time at night and during the weekends because they believed in the importance of what we were doing. I have always been proud to serve as your Director of Community Services over the past 6 Y. years, but I have never been more thankful to work with such dedicated professionals than I am right now. Thank you for preserving our quality of life that we have all come to know as Temecula. Sincerely, JtPJJ! Director of Community Services City ofTemecula
