HomeMy WebLinkAbout96-138 CC Resolution RESOLUTION NO. 96-138 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMECULA, REQUESTING THE SERVICES OF THE COUNTY REGISTRAR OF VOTERS TO CONDUCT A MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, MARCH 4,1997 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Temecula, called a Municipal Election to be held on Tuesday, March 4, 1996, for the purpose of submitting to the voters a measure relating to the levy of a special tax to finance the operation, maintenance and servicing of Public Parks and Recreational Facilities, Recreational and Community Services Programs, Median Landscaping, Arterial Street Lights and Traffic signals. WHEREAS, it is desirable that the Municipal Election be held on March 4, 1997 and that the county election department of the County of Riverside canvass the returns of the Municipal Election and that the election be held in all respects as if there were only one election; NOW, TBEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMECULA DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That pursuant to Elections Code Section 10002 of the Elections Code of the State of California, the Registrar of Voters of the County of Riverside is hereby requested to conduct the Municipal Election on Tuesday, March 4, 1997, for the purpose of submitting to the voters a measure relating to the levy of special tax to finance the operation, maintenance and servicing of Public Parks and Recreational Facilities, Recreational and Community Services Programs, Median Landscaping, Arterial Street Lights and Traffic signals. Section 2. That, except for those services routinely conducted by the City Clerk, delegation is hereby made to the county elections department of the powers and duties of the elections officer for the City of Temecula to conduct said election in accordance with all applicable laws and procedures. The election shall be held in all respects as if there were only on election, and only one form of ballot shall be used. Section 3. That, in all particulars not recited in this Resolution, said election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections in said City. Section 4. That the City of Temecula recognizes that additional costs will be incurred by the County, and agrees to reimburse the County for such additional costs. Section 5. That the Registrar of Voters of the County of Riverside is hereby authorized, instructed and directed to give such further or additional notice of said election, in the time form and manner as required. Section 6. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to file a certified copy of Resolution 96-138 1 with the Board of Supervisors, the county elections department of the County of Riverside and with the County Clerk, Section 7. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED, this 26th day of November, 1996.
