A total of 15 minutes is provided so members of the public can address the Commission on items that are not
listed on the Agenda. Speakers are limited to two (2) minutes each. If you desire to speak to the Commission
about an item no__!t listed on the Agenda, a pink "Request to Speak" form should be filled out and filed with
the Commission Secretary.
When you are called to speak, please come forward and state your name and address.
For all other agenda items, a "Request to Speak" form must be filed with the Recording Secretary before the
Commission gets to that item. There is a three (3) minute time limit for individual speakers.

Right Turn Lane - Palm Plaza North at Ynez Road
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Public/Traffic Safety Commission receive and file the report regarding a right turn lane Palm Plaza
at Ynez Road.
BACKGROUND:
Pursuant to a request from the Public/Traffic Safety Commission, staff has investigated the t~asibility of
installing a separate eastbound right-turn lane on Palm Plaza North at Ynez Road.
A review of current turning movement count data indicates that a dual eastbound left-turn lane is necessary
to adequately handle the peak hour traffic volumes exiting at this location. The right-turn and through volumes
are significantly lower and can be adequately handled by a single through/right combination lane.
Due to the width of the driveway and the median island, providing an additional lane at this location will be
very difficult without a major modification to the driveway. The driveway modification would require
removing the median island that currently serves as an entry statement to the Palm Plaza Shopping Center.
It will also require permission from the property owner, since a majority of the modification work would occur
on private property.
