HomeMy WebLinkAbout97-044 CC ResolutionRESOLUTION NO. 97-44 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMECULA ENDORSING THE REORGANIZATION OF THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE RIVERSIDE COUNTY TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION WHEREAS, the Riverside County Transportation Commission CRCTC") is a statutory transportation commission created by the State Legislature in 1976 to serve Riverside County; and WItEREAS, the power of the Riverside County Transportaiton Commission is currently exercised by a seven (7) voting member Board of Directors; and WHEREAS, this City Council has determined that it is in the best interests of the City of Temecula in particular, and of the County of Riverside in general, that the voting membership of the Riverside County Transportation Commission should be expanded to include one voting member from each city within the County and each member of the Board of Supervisors. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMECULA HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The Temecula City Council hereby endorses the reorganization of the Riverside County Transportation Commission to include each city in the County and each member of the Board of Supervisors as a voting member on RCTC. In addition, the governor's appointee shall remain as a non-voting ex-officio member of the Commission. Section 2. The City Council supports the introduction of legislation which would expand the membership and establish voting and quorum rights, among other things, as set forth in the attached Exhibit "A". Section 3. The City Clerk is directed to provide a copy of this resolution to the Riverside County Transportation Commission for presentation to the State Legislature.
