HomeMy WebLinkAbout18-69 CC ResolutionRESOLUTION NO. 18-69 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMECULA ADOPTING THE 2017 CITY OF TEMECULA LOCAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN ANNEX TO THE RIVERSIDE COUNTY OPERATIONAL AREA MULTI - JURISDICTIONAL LOCAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMECULA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, President William J. Clinton signed H.R. 707, the Disaster Mitigation and Cost Reduction Act of 2000, into law on October 30, 2000. WHEREAS, the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires all jurisdictions to be covered by a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan to be eligible for Federal Emergency Management Agency post -disaster funds; and WHEREAS, the City of Temecula acted as the lead agency in the development of the 2017 City of Temecula Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Annex to the Riverside County Operational Area Multi -Jurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan; and WHEREAS, the City of Temecula coordinated the development of the 2017 City of Temecula Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Annex to the Riverside County Operational Area Multi -Jurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan; and WHEREAS, the City of Temecula and the participating jurisdictions authority are within the Riverside County Operational Area, and WHEREAS, the City of Temecula is concerned about mitigating potential losses from natural disasters before they occur, and WHEREAS, the 2017 City of Temecula Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Annex to the Riverside County Operational Area Multi -Jurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan identifies potential hazards, potential loses and potential mitigation measures to limit loses, and WHEREAS, the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services has reviewed the 2017 City of Temecula Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Annex to the Riverside County Operational Area Multi -Jurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan on behalf of the Federal Emergency Management Agency; and WHEREAS, formal adoption of the 2017 City of Temecula Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Annex to the Riverside County Operational Area Multi -Jurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan by the City of Temecula is required before final approval of the plan can be obtained from the Federal Emergency Management Agency; and Resos 18-69 1 WHEREAS, The City of Temecula has determined that It would be in the best interest of the City of Temecula to adopt the 2017 City of Temecula Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Annex to the Riverside County Operational Area Multi -Jurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMECULA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City Council adopts the 2017 City of Temecula Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Annex to the Riverside County Operational Area Multi -Jurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan, which is on file with the Office of the City Clerk. PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Temecula this 23rd day of October, 2018.
