COMMITTEE BUSINESS
1. WRCOG Commuter Study: Chris Grey, WRCOG Director of Transportation, provided
presentation to Task Force. Using Big Data, he analyzed trip origins & destinations that
confirmed the most congested segment of the 1-15 freeway is the portion from SD
County line to the 1-15/1-215 Split. The data suggests freeway capacity is influenced by
local trips, on/off ramp weaving or "Friction".
2. Caltrans Update: Planned Operational Improvements Along 1-15 Corridor. District
8 will provide an update to the Task Force in June; and speak to current and project
traffic volumes, operational challenges and opportunities, as well as clarify Caltrans'
mission. This will include existing and future traffic volumes for corridor, operational
improvements and what type of operational issues exist in the segment between I-
15/215 and San Diego County.
3. Guiding Principles for Discussion (Federal Lobbyist): Guiding principles were
shared by staff from Federal Lobbyist to help facilitate the Task Force objectives. The
Task Force determined that each city / tribe jurisdiction would provide input and answer
various questions independently (questions 5-8 from Power Point) related to traffic on
Interstate 15 and return.
4. 2018 Meeting Schedule Reminder: Schedule is 1st Thursday at 4pm, every other
month: February 1, April 5, June 7, August 2, October 4, December 6. Discussed
meetings through 2018. It was also discussed future meetings may be hosted at other
