ARCHITECTURAL CONTROl, COMMITTEE
Special Meeting
January 28, 1991
Members Present: Donald Cummins, Robert Morris, Dallas Gray,
Bill Harker
Guest Present: Bill Perry
The meeting convened at 8:00 a.m. at 28465 Front Street
Suite 201 for the purpose of looking at a blueprint submitted
by John McKusker of Kids World, portraying how he planned to
change the external appearance of the non-conforming building
at Kids World on Third Street in Old Town Temecula.
Bill Perry also attended this meeting to submit changes he
has in mind for the old bank building on the northwest corner
of Front and Main Streets, the construction of a new building
on the foundations of the old red school house on west Main
Street that was destroyed by fire several years ago, and for
external changes to the old medical building on the west side
of Front Street across from the Swing Inn Cafe. He also
submitted color chips depicting the color of paint that would
be used'on all three buildings.
The Changes to the bank building and medical building
referred to above and proposed by Bill Perry were
given verbal approval by the committee with exception of
the porch posts. It was requested that they be boxed in
at the lower portion to give them a heavier appearance.
The new building proposed by Perry for construction on
the site of the old school house was given verbal
approval except for the wood siding which was proposed as
exterior plywood with vertical battens on 16 inch
centers. It was recommended that the cedar or other
similar wood be used in place of the plywood which was
not available as a building material in the 1890 to 1920
era.
The blue print submitted by McKusker was not approved as
the proposed exterior treatment did not accomplish what
the committee had requested. The committee would still
like to sit down with McKusker's architect and explain to
him what is wanted which we asked to do in the first
place. If a satisfactory solution is not presented by
McKusker the committee will request that the non-
conforming building be removed from the site and leave
the next step up to the City.
The meeting adjourned at 8:30 a.m.
