A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TEMECULA, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING STREET
CLOSURES FOR OLD TOWN FRONT STREET AND
ABUTFING STREETS FROM FIRST STREET TO MORENO
DRIVE EAST FOR TEMECULA ROD RUN 2003 EVENT ON
FEBRUARY 15 AND 16, 2003, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY
ENGINEER TO ISSUE A PERMIT FOR THIS SPECIFIC
SPECIAL EVENT
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMECULA DOES RESOLVE, DETERMINE
AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, The California State Vehicular Code provides for the promulgation of rules
and regulations for the temporary closure of public streets by local authorities by Resolution;
and,
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish rules and regulations for the temporary
closure of public streets in the interest of promoting safety and protection; and,
WHEREAS, The City of Temecula desires to authorize the closure of public streets for
the Temecula Rod Run 2003 Event sponsored by the Temecula Town Association, for which
such temporary street ctosures promote the safety and protection of persons using or proposing
to use those streets for the special event: and,
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to facilitate the issuance of permission to
temporarily close public streets, specifically Old Town Front Street between First Street and
Moreno Road east as well as portions of Sixth Street, Fifth Street, Fourth Street, Main Street,
Third Street, and Second Street for the Temecula Road Run Event; and,
NOW, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to authorize the City Engineer to approve
temporary street closures for the Temecula Rod Run 2003 Event sponsored by the Temecula
Town Association, and to establish the general rule that all other proposed temporary street
closures shall be reviewed and approved subject to conditions, or disapproved, by the City
Council; and,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Temecula, hereby
authorizes the City Engineer to permit temporary street closures for the Temecula Rod Run
2003 Event, and establishes the general rule that all other temporary public street closures shall
be approved or denied approval by the City Council.
