This should include sampling and R-Value testing of the actual subgrade soils and an analysis based upon the anticipated traffic loading. For a preliminary pavement design, recommendations for pavement design section of asphalt parking areas are provided below. These values are based on an assumed R-value of 45. For pavement design, Traffic indexes (TI) of 4.0 and 5.5 were used for the parking areas and auto driveways, respectively.
