RESOLUTION NO. 04-22
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TEMECULA SUPPORTING ASSEMBLY BILL 488 (PARRA) WHICH
PROVIDES PUBLIC DISSEMINATION OF SEX OFFENDER
INFORMATION PURSUANT TO MEGAN'S LAW SHALL OCCUR
THROUGH AN INTERNET WEBSITE OPERATED BY THE
DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE (DOJ)
THE CITY COUNCil OF THE CITY OF TEMECULA DOES RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND
ORDER AS FOllOWS:
WHEREAS, AB 488 provides for the public dissemination of sex offender information
through an Internet website operated by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and;
WHEREAS, AB 488 would allow the existing public notification provision of Megan's law
through an electronic medium or a "900" telephone number shall remain in effect until January 1,
2005 and;
WHEREAS, AB 488 would require that DOJ categorize sex offender information by county in
addition to the current categories of community of residence and ZIP code and;

WHEREAS, AB 488 modifies the type of sex offender information collected and categorized
by DOJ to include specified data regarding employment, vehicles, and connections to institutions of
higher learning and;
WHEREAS, AB 488 would require the DOJ website list the residence address, including zip
code, of high-risk sex offenders and;
WHEREAS, AB 488 would provide a sunset date of January 1, 2010 and;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City of Temecula hereby supports the
passage of Assembly Bill 488 (Parra) by the legislature, and directs the City Council to notify
Assemblyman Parra, the Governor, Assemblyman Haynes and Senator Hollingsworth of its support.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED, by the City Council of the City of Temecula at a
regular meeting held on the 24th day of February, 2004.
