Dear Commissioners, I wanted to take the opportunity to submit a letter of appreciation for the positive and progressive work that you're doing by volunteering yourselves for this commission. I realize the vile and epically misguided commentary by some of our city's residents — and mostly from those who DO NOT LIVE in TEMECULA — may have had you questioning whether it was prudent to put yourselves in a position to be attacked. Even if those attacks were false, slanderous, likely libelous, and saddening. Let me assure you, what you are doing for our city is needed, necessary, admirable — and appreciated by our family. As your regular old Southern California white family — we have never been blind to the obstacles that are stacked in the way of our underrepresented communities. At the same, we are cognizant of the privileges we are afforded where others are not. Equally, we have witnessed this community continue to diversify itself, requiring representation at the local government level in order to better be included in our city's story moving forward. That's why I write today and why we support this commission. This city has been changing for 15 years and it's time for our city to shed the old ways and really drive toward the future. That can only happen when fueled by diverse and forward -thinking individuals and teams that embrace our cultural differences and place great value on the varied ideas, cultural flavors, and influences that come with them. The city cannot go backward, and you are just one of the driving forces that will take us forward. In those hardest of times, remember that your involvement will be remembered for generations to come — and it's appreciated. Thank you, Jeff Pack Temecula JEFF PACK
