PUBLIC COMMENT
A total of 30 minutes is provided for members of the public to address the Commission on matters not
listed on the agenda. Each speaker is limited to 3 minutes. Public comments may be made in person at
the meeting by submitting a speaker card to the Commission Secretary or by submitting an email to be
included into the record. Still images may be displayed on the projector. All other audio and visual use
is prohibited. Email comments must be submitted to REDICommission@temeculaca.gov. Speaker cards
for in -person comments will be called in the order received by the Commission Secretary. Email
comments on all matters must be received prior to the time the item is called for public comments. All
public participation is governed by the Council Policy regarding Public Participation at Meetings
adopted by Resolution No. 2021-54.
CONSENT CALENDAR
All matters listed under the Consent Calendar are considered to be routine and all will be enacted by one
roll call vote. There will be no discussion of these items unless members of the Commission request
specific items be removed from the Consent Calendar for separate action. A total of 30 minutes is

Action Minutes

Recommendation
That the Commission receive a presentation on Pride Month and present
related proclamation to student club members from Chaparral, Great Oak,
Rancho Vista and Temecula Valley High Schools.

NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC
The full agenda packet (including staff reports and any supplemental material available after the original posting
of the agenda), distributed to a majority of the Race, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Commission regarding any
item on the agenda, will be available for public viewing in the main reception area of the Temecula Civic Center
during normal business hours at least 72 hours prior to the meeting. The material will also be available on the

Agenda Item public comment for the RED[ Commission Meeting June 7th
My name is Gillian Larson and as I am not able to be with you in- person
this evening, please know, I am with you in spirit to celebrate Pride month
with everyone.
Thank you REDI Commissioners for your City Proclamation that recognizes
and celebrates our LBGTQ community. Thank you to all who express their
thanks and to all who are with us this evening to celebrate.
Looking back into history we acknowledge and thank hundreds of LGBTQ
members who have made a significant mark in their world and in all of ours.

Thank you to all activists all over the world who have and still do, work hard
for LGBTQ rights. That list is endless and impressive.
To name a few who left their mark in politics, inventions, sports,
entertainment, science, literature, the media, our legal system, the military,
fashion and so much more.
Alan Turing, Billie Jean King, Tammy Baldwin, Anderson Cooper,
Deborah Batts, Lady Gaga, Coco Chanel and so many more.
To go back even further, Oscar Wilde, Leonardo DaVinci, Florence
Nightingale, Julius Caesar,
Looking now at today we acknowledge, celebrate and thank our own
LGBTQ community who are making significant contributions to our City and
the Valley in all of their chosen fields.
