Subject: Supplemental Grading Compaction Report
Single Family Home Construction
Lot 11 Tract 9833~, Jedediah Smith Road
Temecula, CA.
Gentlemen:
This letter report presents the test results and observations made during the overexcavation and
recompaction of the house pad in preparation for support of a single family home construction.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The site was previously rough graded in 1992, with a building pad completed and ready to support
construction of a single family home. The proposed house was not built and the manufactured pad remained
undeveloped. The site was recently purchase by Mr.Azhand with the intention of constructing a single
family residence. A precise grading plan was prepared for the new home design to be positioned on the as-
built house pad. Our update soils compaction report, dated March 10, 2003 presents recommendations for
ground preparation for support of this new house construction.
As per recommended in our March 10,2003 update report, the area within the proposed house footprint and
5 feet beyond was over excavated a depth of 3 feet and recompacted to provide for a compacted fill cushion
for support of house construction. The task was nessiatiated due to existing pad cut-fill transitional line
condition and revised and relocation of new house footprint.
A one and/or two story single family home is planned for construction on the prepared pad. The building
will be founded on a compacted fill cushion. Construction type will be of conventional wood framed walls
and tile roofing. Foundation is planned for conventional spread footings and a concrete slab-on-grade floor.
FEILD TESTING AND GRADING OBSERV A nON
The rough grading operation was performed by Tom's Tractor Services ( (909) 679-8358 using a 0-5 Dozer.
Water was derived from onsite meter. The grading operation performed during the third week of January
2004. And the operation was observed to be conducted in the following manner:
1. Surface vegetation including grass, weeds and root hairs were cleared from the areas to
be graded.

2. With the building footprint and 5 feet beyond, the existing topsoil soil was removed/excavated to a depth
of 2 feet, bottom scarified another 12 inches. The exposed soil were moisture conditioned to near
optimum soil condition and recompacted and backfilled to finished pad grade.
3. The ground exposed at the bottom of topsoil removal were inspected and determined
to be competent for support of the compacted fill.
4. Approved soils were placed in thin layers on the prepared ground surface, and each layer
was compacted to the minimum specified relative density before the next layer was added.
5. The minimum acceptable degree of soil compaction was 90 percent relative density of the
laboratory determine maximum dry density, for each soil type.
6. Maximum dry density and optimum moisture content were determine by A.S.T.M.
01557-78 method. Field density tests were performed utilizing the drive tube method
(A.S.T.M.02937).
7. Fill dirt were derived from onsite. No import soils were used. The onsite soils were
classified as a light to medium brown, Silty SAND (SP/SM), with trace clay only.
II
8. Field density tests were conducted during the placement of fill to determine the degree of
relative compaction and the moisture content of the soil being placed. Where the tests
results or field observation (probing) indicates insufficient density, additional compaction
effort with adjustment of the soil moisture content where necessary was performed before
additional fill layer placement. The field density test results are presented below:

GRADING DEVIATION FROM APPROVED PLAN
At the conclusion of the rough grading operation, there were no deviations noted in the field when compared
to the precise grading plan on file. The finished pad grade remained unchanged as before, prior to remedial
grading operation.

CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
(
Based on the results of our field and laboratory testing, on observations of construction procedures used in
the field and on our past experience on this kind of work, it is our opinion that the compacted fill placed and
as shown on Plot Plan figure 2, has been placed in accordance with the applicable portions of the grading
specifications. Any fill added beyond the limits or above the grades shown on the plot plan should be placed
under engineering control and in accordance with the job specifications, if the work is to be covered by the
conclusions and recommendation of this report.,
Based upon our field testing results, the compacted fill cushion placed are in our opinion compacted to at
least 90 percent relative density, and the building pad as shown on figure 2, is now considered suitable for its
intended use. The onsite soils are granular type, and considered to be LOW in expansion potential.
The foundation recommendations presented in our Update Soils Report, dated March 10,2003 (P.N.03-
004.RU) remains applicable and should be incorporated into the design and construction stages of building
construction.
SITE DRAINAGE
The properly owner was informed that drainage around the building pad and the entire jobsite will need to a
addressed prior to building completion. Onsite cut and fill slopes showing gully/erosion/reveling will need to
be repaired prior to placing ground cover and/or installing irrigation devices.
Positive drainage should be provided around the perimeter of the entire structure to minimize water
infiltratoing into the underlying soils. Finished grades adjacent to exterior footings should be slope down and
away at a minimum of 4 percent for at least 3 horizontal feet and continue at 2 percent to swale flowlines to
facilitate surface drainage. All drainage should be directly off-site via non-erosive devices such as ditches
and/or manufactured swales.
The homeowner should be made aware of the potential problems which may develop when drainage is
altered through the construction of garden walls, patios, pools and gazebos. Ponding water situations, leaking
irrigation systems, over watering or other conditions which could lead to ground saturation must be avoided.

ADDITIONAL GRADING
The project consultant should be notified prior to any additional fill placement regarding of the site. This
report is limited to the earthwork performed through January 22, 2004, the last- day of our site inspection.
And/or testing conducted at the subject site. Any future appurtenant construction such as cabana, gazebo,
pool, spa, barns and second unit building should be plan checked and permitted under separate additional
permits by city of Temecula.
Our findings have been obtained in accordance with accepted professional engineering practices in the field
of soil engineering. This warranty is in lieu of all other warranties, either expressed or implied. We sincerely
~pp~.Sill~rJJ!r,~<aBJ?grt~ni~!o be.?f service.. If you have any questi~ns concerning this report or require further
