INTRODUCTION
The subject driveway CMP backfill has been tested for compliance with applicable
City specifications. The work was initiated by Mr. John Carter and included:
(1) testing the compacted backfill, and (2) preparing this report presenting the
findings and conclusions.

FINDINGS
Prooosed Develooment
A single family residence is proposed for construction. Two 18 inch diameter by
40 feet long CMP's (corrugated metal pipe) were installed under the driveways
leading from East Vallejo Avenue and Ynez Road.
Site Conditions
The parcel is located at the southwest corner of Ynez Road and East Vallejo
Avenue. The general terrain of the area is flat, and the site is covered with
annual grasses. The pad is constructed in the northeast portion of the lot.
The area to the south of the pad is sloping to the south at an approximate
gradient of one percent. A 24 inch CMP crosses Ynez Road from northeast to
southwest, discharging runoff at the northeast corner of the subject lot.
Earthwork Contractor
The earthwork was performed by One Tractor Doze It All (Lake Elsinore) from June
14 through 17, 1991 without the benefit of surveyed construction staking. The
equipment used was a John Deere 450 dozer, a backhoe, one hand whacker, and
moisture was provided by a water hose.
GradinQ and Earthwork Ooeration
The backfill materials were a combination of the imported materials from the two
areas during the Mass Grading as noted in the Import Certification section of
the Reference report. The soils are Silty and Clayey Sands and were placed in
lifts of 6 to 8 inches in uncompacted thickness, moistened, and compacted. The
maximum backfill height (toe to top elevation) is approximately 3 feet.
The City Inspector requested that the CMP's be enlarged to 18 inch diameter from
the 12 inches as shown on the Grading Plan.
Comoaction TestinQ
All tests were performed in accordance with ASTM 01556-90 (Sand Cone Test
Method) with the maximum density determined in accordance with ASTM 01557-78.
The test locations are shown on Plate 1 and the results are summarized below:

CONCLUS IONS
1. The backfill soils consist of Silty and Clayey Sands.
2. The CMP backfill has been compacted to a minimum relative compaction of 90
percent (unweighted ayerage = 91.7 percent).
3. A total of 3 quality assurance tests were performed using the Sand Cone Test
Method (ASTM D1556-90).
4. Four 18 inch diameter CMP's were placed along the driveway entrances off
East Vallejo Avenue and Ynez Road. On-site soil was used to complete the
backfill.
