The property herein described is located in Section 7, Township 8 South, Range 2 West, San Bernardino Meridian, in the City of Temecula, County of Riverside, California. The 20 acre site lies directly south of Pauba Road and approximately 1200 feet west of Margarita Road. The site is boardered by the Temecula Valley Kingdom Hall on the West and vacant land on the other sides. The existing undeveloped site consists of native vegetation on the hillsides. An ephemeral stream bed traverses the southerly portion of the site. The proposed development consists of 34 one half acre single family lots. The purpose of this drainage study is to determine the 1 OO-year flood potential and app~opriate mitigation measures. HISTORIC DRAINAGE The existing local watershed consists of 125 acres with a Q100 of 309 CFS as is shown by the hydrology. The existing channel which traverses across the site from west to east, easily accommodates this Q. The project site drains into this channel. PROROSED DRAINAGE DESIGN The site will drain southerly in each of the two proposed cul-de-sac streets to two catch basins where a portion of the drainage will be picked up in catch basins. The remainder of the flow will drain into a catch basin at the end of the cul-de-sac. A small catch basin is needed in the cul-de-sac because of the reduced lot frontages there. The storm drain system then carries the flows to the channel that runs west to east near the southerly boundary. To mitigate flood hazards and minimize the diversiqn of flood waters from the project site to adjacent properties the design criteria for the site has been determined as follows: 'JJ I I I I I I' I I I I I I I I I, I I I I 1) The proposed street sections will direct storm water through the site and into the above referenced channel. 2) All areas that are lower than the proposed channel will be filled and graded to drain into the channel. 3) The sides of the channel adjacent to existing and proposed development will be protected with 12 inch rip rap. 4) One quarter ton rip rap will be provided at the channel outlet near the southwestern corner of the subject property. 5) Neither upstream or downstream properties shall be adversely affected due to these mitigation measures. METHODOLOGY & REFERENCES Methods used to calculate runoffs are as prescribed by the Riverside County Flood Control District Hydrology Manual, The Riverside County Rational Method was used to determine the 1 OO-year developed peak discharge. Capacity calculations for the open channel are based on Manning's equation. CONCLUSION The drainage plan and report are in accordance with the Riverside County Flood Control District Hydrology Manual.
