I Dear Mr. Fay: Iln accordance with your request and written authorization, the Referenced NO.3 Conceptual I Grading Plan has been reviewed, and is acceptable from a geotechnical perspective. I Based on our review of the Referenced NO.2 Report, the materials identified in the Referenced I No. 1 Report as "undocumented fills" have now been confirmed as documented. Therefore, the I previously engineered fill material is considered competent and may remain in place. After , reviewing the Referenced No. 1 and NO.2 Reports and the Referenced NO.3 Plan, and based , on our understanding ,that the proposed structures will consist of masonry block office structures I and service bays, specific earthvvork recommendations are as follows: ; . . - \ , - , - ; - ; - ., '. , , . , ',' -: \~- ' ' , '-~ ;;~ :::,:,~~.~~~~~.~.~..:,~ ~ ,\ .-'~.'_\;;:~~~*~ ~,,,~*.~~~*~~~ii~ii~~;~?~1ii;~~~.i~_i~~~~;;ii~;;i;iii ~!!f:f;!!!;!!~~~jft! Westfall Construction Company Project Number: T2755-CS October 2003 Page 2 Proposed Northern Structure Once the proposed structure has been cut to grade, the eastern portion of the structure will be founded into native I bedrock material whereas the western portion will be located over approximately 3-feet of previously engineered fill material. Therefore, due to the existence of a cutlfill transition, the eastern cut and shallow fill portions of the proposed structure area should be overexcavated to a depth of 3-feet below finish grade elevation and to a horizontal distance of 5-feet outside the proposed building footprint. Preparation of the bottom material as well as fill placement should adhere to the recommendations in the Referenced NO.1 Report. Proposed Southern Structure Once the proposed structure has been cut to grade, the footprint of the entire structure will be located entirely into previously existing fill material measuring approximately 3 to 12-feet in thickness. These conditions are considered suitable for the proposed development. Prior to excavation of footings, the top 12-inches of the finish grade material should be scarified, moisture conditioned to :t2 percent of optimum and recompacted to 90 percent relative :;ompaction.
