Plot plan for the subject site prepared by Art Ramirez, dated
August 2, 1994
In accordance with your authorization, we have performed field density testing during
March 31, April 3 and 4, 1995 for the subject project. The approximate locations of the
field density tests are shown on the plot plan. The plot plan was based on the plot plan
submitted by your office.
A brief summary of the field density testing operations, test results, and other
pertinent information are presented in the following report.
This report should be reviewed in detail prior to proceeding with the planed
development of the project.

PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT
Single family residence is proposed for the subject site.
SCOPE OF WORK
Our scope of work was to observe the grading and perform compaction testing on
part-time basis.
DATES IOF OBSERVATION AND TESTING
The grading work was observed and field density tests were performed during March
31, April 3 and 4, 1995 by our field technician on part time basis.
GRADING EQUIPMENT
The grading work was performed using the following equipment:
(1) Track wheel dozer
(2) Fire hose
The Track wheel dozer and fire hose were used for grading, compaction, and
moisture conditioning,

GRADING AND FILL OPERATIONS
The lot was developed in minimal cuts and fills. Approximately 0.50 feet of fill was
placed on the north western portion of the building area and approximately 1 foot of fill was
placed on the south western portion of the building area.
The building area and at least five (5) feet beyond the proposed building Jines was
overexcavated to a minimum depth of 3 feet on the northern one half of the building area
arid to a minimum depth of 6 feet below original existing grade on the southern half of the
building area due to very wet soils conditions encountered in this area.
The bottom of overexcavations was scarified to a minimum depth of 12 inches and
was compacted to a minimum relative density of 90% prior to backfilling. The source of
saturation on the southern half of the proposed building area was not determined, however
it appears that the storm drain located at the northeastern corner of the lot has contributed
to the saturation of this area, therefore, drainage of the storm drain shall be diverted away
from the proposed building area to avoid saturation and potential settlement of building
area.
Compaction Density Tests were taken at the. bottom of the overexcavation' after
recompaction with results being at least 90% of the Maximum Dry Density with adequate
moisture.
Backfill soils were then placed in 6 to 8 inch lifts, well moisture conditioned, mixed
and compacted. Compaction Density Tests were taken at different intervals to verify the
moisture content and degree of compaction. Results of density test indicated a relative
density of at least 90% of the maximum dry density as determined by ASTM D 1557-78.
On site materials consisted of dark Brown medium to coarse silty sands on the
northern half of proposed building area and of golden Brown fine to medium silty sands on
the southern half of the building area.

FIELD DENSITY TESTING
In-place density tests were performed in accordance with the sand cone method,
ASTM D 1556-64 (74), and the maximum density of the backfill soils was obtained in
,accordance with ASTM D 1557-78.
CONCLUSIONS
o The bottom of the overexcavation and the backfill materials were
compacted to a minimum relative density of 90% as verified by field
density testing and probing.
o TIle above described grading has been completed in substantial compliance
with the grading code of the local building agencies.
o The rough graded pad appears to be adequate for the construction and
support of the proposed dwelling.
o All recommendations contained under grading and fill operations of this
report shall be adhered to during project development.
CLOSURE
Our findings and conclusions have been based on generally accepted engineering
practices. No further warranties are implied nor made.
