Dear Mr. Plunkett:
'[bis report presents the results of our overexcavation & recompaction of the existing pad located at
the above-mentioned site. Owing to the presence of a cut-to-fill transition on the existing
residential pad (see references), current grading operations included overexcavation of the proposed
building pad for the residential structure a minimum of 3-ft below finish grade elevation and
extended a minimum of 5-ft outside the building footprint. All compaction test results are included
in Table I of this' report. Grading operations were performed in accordance with the requirements
of , the City of Temecula, the referenced geotechnical report and the 2001 California Building Code
(CBC).
The 30-scale, "Grading Plan" prepared for the subject site was utilized during grading to locate our
field density tests. A reduced copy of the 30-scale "Precise Grading Plan" was utilized as a base
map for our Compaction Test Location Map presented as Plate 1. Del Rio Equipment performed
the grading operations.
In-place density tests were performed in accordance with ASTM D 2922-91 (Nuclear Density
Method). Maximum density/optimum moisture tests from the referenced report (listed in Table II)
were used to provide relative compaction results.
Grading operations included repair of erosion damage on the existing fill slope on the west side of
the existing pad. A keyway was established at the base of the erosion damage with benching
maintained into competent fill at all times. The recommendations contained in the referenced
reports (see Appendix A) should be complied with during development. The foundation
excavations should be inspected by the soils engineer prior to placement of steel and concrete.
