Dear Mr. Meyer:
Converse Consultants (Converse) has prepared this report to present the results of
field observation and density testing performed during earthwork associated with
the remedial as well finish grading of the subject site.
Prior to the current earthwork, the site project site was rough graded as a
greenbelt area in accordance with the recommendations contained in the following
report, and under the full-time field observation and testing by Converse:
. Preliminary Geotechnical Investigation Report, Eastern and Southwestern
Portion of "The Meadows", Approximately 800-Acre Site, City of Temecula,
California, prepared by Converse for Newland Associates, Converse Project No.
96-81-420-01, dated April 26, 1996.
The subject site was later proposed to be developed as a recreational park site.
The proposed development included construction of two (2) swimming pools, a
recreation building, a tennis court, and associated landscaped areas and a concrete
walkway. The recreation building will be a light-loaded one-story wood-frame
structure. The swimming pools are irregular shaped with a maximum depth of 5.5
feet. Converse prepared the following report to provide remedial grading
recommendations for the for the proposed development:

Remedial grading of the recreation building and the proposed swimming pool
located north of the building was performed by Buck Kemmis Equipment Company,
Murrieta, California, during the period from March 19 through March 23, 1998.
Converse performed full-time field observation and density testing during the
grading. Equipment for the earthwork included a scraper, a blade and a water
truck. The building pad and the swimming pool area was overexcavated to provide
at least five (5) feet of fill over the entire pad as recommended in the above-
referenced report dated June 24, 1997. Grading also involved placement of
compacted fills over the pad area to raise the ground surface to the proposed finish
grade level. Imported soils from the adjacent school site. area (Lot 2 of Tract
24186-4) were placed as compacted fills over the pad areas.
The "Final Soils Compaction Report, Recreation Site, Tract 28186-4, Paseo del Sol
Master Planned Community, Temecula, California, Converse Project No. 96-81-
420-06, Dated March 25, 1998 is included as an attachment to this report.
Laboratory tests were performed to determine laboratory maximum dry densities of
the representative site soils in accordance with the ASTM Standard D1557 test
method. Results of the laboratory dry density tests are presented on the summary
sheet of the attached Field Density Test Results. The field density tests were
performed in accordance with the ASTM Standard Test Method D2922.
Based on the results of our field observation and density testing, it is our opinion
that the earthwork associated with the grading of the subject site (including
grading for building pad, various utility lines, and parking areas) are completed in
compliance with the project plans and specifications. Geotechnical design
recommendations for the proposed facilities presented in the above-referenced
report dated June 24, 1997 are still applicable. Tests for utility lines and park
areas are summarized in Field Density Test Results which accompany this letter.

Results of the field density tests are presented in Table No.2, Summary of Field
Density Test Results. The field density tests were performed in accordance with
the ASTM Standard Test Method 02922. The relative compaction at each test
location was determined by dividing the measured in-place dry density Clf the
compacted fill soils by the laboratory maximum dry density of the same "Soil
Type" from Table No.1, Summary of Laboratory Maximum Dry Density and
Optimum Moisture Content Tests.
Based on the results of our field observation and density testing. It IS our opinion
that the earthwork associated with the grading of the subject site are completed in
compliance with the project plans and specifications. Geotechnic'al design
recommendations for the proposed facilities presented in the above-referenced
report dated June 24, 1997 are still applicable.
