HomeMy WebLinkAbout90-019 CC ResolutionRESOLUTION NO. 90-19 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMEL'UI~ APPOINTING A CITIZEN COMMITTEE ON THE LAW ENFORCEMENT CONTRACT WHEREAS, the City Council has submitted a Letter of Intention to the Riverside County Sheriffs Department providing that law enforcement services to the City will be provided by the Sheriff during the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1990; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to appoint a citizens committee to negotiate the terms and conditions of the law enforcement contract; and WHEREAS, the citizens committee will be required to serve only until the contract is adopted by the City Council and in no event longer than June 30, 1990. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Temecula as follows: Section 1. Councilmembers Peg Moore and Sal Munoz are appointed as an ad hoc committee of the City Council to meet with the law enforcement committee. Section 2. The following persons are hereby appointed to serve on the City of Temecula Law Enforcement Committee: Howard Chesher Linda Cloughen John Sterling Hank Rupp Frank Klein Ted Goudy Ralph Limon Section 3. The Law Enforcement Committee is charged with the responsibility of considering the law enforcement needs of the City of Temecula and recommending to the City Council a proposed budget and contract to provide law enforcement services by the Riverside County Sheriffs Department for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1990. The Committee is requested to hold public meetings under the terms of the Brown Act to consider public input into the law enforcement contract and to review all materials submitted to the Committee by the City Council or by the Sheriffs Department for review and recommendations. The Committee is further requested to consider the experiences of other cities in Riverside County in contracting with the Sheriffs Department and where appropriate to make field trips to said cities for the purpose of learning from their experience on matters concerning the proposed contract. It is specifically understood that the Law Enforcement Committee is a temporary ad hoc committee whose sole purpose is to provide recommendations and advice to the City Council for final action.
