Subject: Geotechnical Report Re: Existing Driveway, 31043 Jedediah Smith Road
(a.k.a. Lot 9, Tract 9833), Santiago Estates, City of Temecula, County of
Riverside, California
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Zamiski:
In accordance with your request, GeoSoils, Inc. (GSI) is herein presenting our findings,
conclusions and recommendations with respect to the existing driveway at the subject
residence. The existing driveway will eventually service three separate residences,
including Mr. & Mrs. Zamiski's future residence.
It is GSI's understanding that the existing driveway was constructed by others (i.e. one of
the other residence owners). It is also GSI's understanding that the City of Temecula is
concerned with the structural integrity of the driveway. Hence, corings were perFormed at
three (3) locations to determine the unit weight and maximum density determinations. The
data is presented in the enclosed Appendix A.
In addition, a GSI representative was present during the coring of the driveway. The
exposed subgrade materials were visually assessed for competency. Upon probing of the
materials, these materials appear suitable for the intended use.
Additionally, a sample of representative materials was collected and R-Value testing was
perFormed: The results of this testing is shown in the enclosed Appendix B. A traffic index
of 4.5 was provided by the City of Temecula.
Based on the above and the data presented in the attached Append'ices, the driveway
should consist of at least 3.5 inches of asphaltic concrete over a native subgrade.
Therefore GSI recommends an additional overlay of approximately 1.5 inches of asphaltic
concrete.

At your request, we have obtained core samples of asphalt concrete from the
existing driveway at 31043 Jedediah Smith Road in the City of Temecula,
California.
On December 16, 2004, three samples were retrieved by means of coring the
driveway. The core locations and thicknesses are indicated in the following
