PUBLIC COMMENTS:
A total of 15 minutes is provided so members of the public can address the
Commissioners on items that are not listed on the Agenda. Speakers are limited to
three (3) minutes each. If you desire to speak to the Commissioners _about an item not
listed on the Agenda, a green "Request to Speak" form should be filled out and filed
with the Commission Secretary.
When you are called to speak, please come forward and state vour name and address.
For all other agenda items, a"Request to Speak" form must be filed with the
Community Services Commission Secretary before the item is addressed by the
Commission. There is a three (3) minute time limit for individual speakers.
NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC
All matters listed under Consent Calendar are considered to be routine and all will be
enacted by one roll call vote. There will be no discussion of these items unless
members of the Commission request specific items be removed from the Consent
Calendar for separate action.

NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC

Approved staff recommendation (5-0) — Commissioner Meyler made the motion; it
was seconded by Commissioner McCracken and voice vote reflected unanimous
approval.

RE: Summer Programs and Events Recap
RECOMMENDATION: That the Community Services Commission receive and file
a report recapping the 2012 Summer Programs and Events.
DISCUSSION: Each summer, the City of Temecula Community Services
Department offers residents a wide variety of classes and activities to participate in. In
addition, there are several special programs and events offered to the residents of
Temecula for their enjoyment. The following is a list of a few of the activities and
programs the residents can look forward to this summer:
Summer Day Camp was offered from June 11 through August 10 2012. This
program, designed for youth ages Kindergarten through 14 years old, is offered Monday
through Friday at the Community Recreation Center. The program provides supervised
activities such as arts and crafts, group games, swimming and more. In addition the
campers participate in both local and out of town excursions such as the local movie
theater, Painted Earth, Sea World, and more.
F.A.M. Program — The F.A.M. Program will be held on Monday nights beginning June
11th through July 30th. This event is held at various locations and generally serves
125+ participants.
The Annual Aglow in the Park was held on June 29, 2012 at the Ronald Reagan Sports
Park and included two blues bands, games and activities for the kids, and barbeque was
available for purchase.
The Annual Summer Sunsets Concert Series was offered every Thursday night
beginning June 7' through August 9` at the Temecula Amphitheater and included a
different band each week and clowns to entertain the kids.
The Moonlight Movies in the Park series was offered on four (4) Friday evenings during
the summer months at various park sites throughout the City, featuring a DJ, crafts,
games, and a family oriented movie. Two of the movie nights were combined Family
Fun Nights Events and offered additional themed activities for the movies HOP and The
SmurFs.
Additional Family Fun Night events included the Build Your Own Boat Regatta held on
August 17 at the CRC pool. In this event families build their own boat and participate in
a race across the pool. A trophy is awarded to the family that wins.

Hot Summer Nights was offered on Friday evenings during July and August in Old Town,
and included music, clowns, and every two weeks "Party in the Park" was held at the
town square park offering pony rides, jolly jumps, and live music in the Civic Center
quad.
The History Museum offered their Summer Explorer's camp which featured themed
weekly sessions including: Native American Heritage Week, Pioneer Life Week, New
World Influence Week and Natural History Week.
In addition, there were numerous camps, classes and other programs offered to the
community through our Guide to Leisure Activities to fill the summer with fun activities for
families and youth.
