The applicant is requesting to modify the exte[ior fa�ade of an existing vacant freestanding restaurant previously known as Granddad's Hot Dogs (PA11-0042). The building fronts directly on to 5 Street and is thus highly visible to both motorists and pedestrians. Since the iocation has previously 6een several differenf restaurants, it has suffered some minor damage as each tenant applied their own theme to the building: The proposal would unify the building into a more consistent Western Frontier style design, consistent with the Old Town Specific Plan. The building currently is based on mid-century architecture.with ranch elements. The modifications will make the buildings more.internally consistent with design the OId.Town of Temecula theme. The front building farade wilf include a stucco finish and horizontal resawn Douglas Fir Planking finish to the middle section of building frontage with. a. trellis affixed above the building entry displaying. the "Blackbird" lettering for signage. All entry door and window trims will match the. proposed resawn planking finish. Galvanized goose=neck lanterns are proposed on fhe upper portion of _the building parapet providing onsite lighting. The roof overhang to the northwest corner elevation _will retain the -existing galvanized metal maferial as proposed.. The. color scheme is proposed to consist of Sherwin .Williams. "Black6ean" SW6006, .'in combination .wifh . unfiinished resawn Douglas Fir; providing visual interesf to the existing building, The proposed ``Blackbean" color is consistenf with Sherwin Williams Preservation Palette coloc "Polished Mahogany". Exterior walls. facing the north, south, west, and east elevations will consist of the proposed `'Blackbean" color. RECOMMENDATION The modifications proposed in this application have been determined by staff to be consisfent with the Old Town Specific.Plan as to building colors and materials: Staff is requesting thaf the Old Town Local Review Board review, pcovide comments, and recommend approval for this project. ..
