SUBJECT: Planning Commission Appointment

RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council appoint one applicant to serve a full
three-year term on the Planning Commission through June 15, 2017.
BACKGROUND: The term of Commissioner Carl Carey expired on June 15, 2014.
The City. Clerk's office has followed the Council's established procedure for filling Commission
vacancies by advertising the opening in the local newspaper. Notices were also posted at
various locations within the City and on the City's web page. When the deadline was reached
for accepting applications, the applications were forwarded to the committee comprised of
Mayor Edwards and Council Member Naggar for review and recommendation. Eighteen
applications were received for the one vacancy. Both Mayor Edwards and Council Member
Naggar have recommended to appoint Lana'e Turley-Trejo to serve full a three-year term
through June 15, 2017. All applicants are registered voters and live within the city limits of the
City of Temecula.
