AGENDA REPORT
TO: Community Services Commission
FROM: Kevin Hawkins, Director of Community Services
DATE: September 12, 2016
SUBJECT: Receive and File a Preview of Concepts for a Memorial in Honor of Jimmy
Moore
PREPARED BY: Erica Russo, Senior Management Analyst
RECOMMENDATION: That the Community Services Commission receive and file a
preview of concepts for a memorial in honor of Jimmy Moore.
BACKGROUND: Following the passing of Temecula's Founding Father, Jimmy
Moore, the City Council requested that staff bring forward a proposal to create a suitable
memorial in Mr. Moore's honor, to be located in the Civic Center Plaza. Additionally, it was
discussed that the Plaza area be re-named "Founders Square" with the intent to provide
opportunities to honor other notable individuals in the City's history.
Accordingly, staff has prepared multiple concepts with artist's rendering depicting various
memorial options and locations. Pending review by Commission, this presentation will be
shared with City Council on September 27, 2016.
FISCAL IMPACT: No fiscal impact.
