CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 4:10 p.m.
by City of Temecula Council Member Mike Naggar
ROLL CALL:
City of Temecula: Mayor Maryann Edwards and Council Member Mike Naggar (Council Member
Naggar left the meeting early at 5:05pm.)
City of Murrieta: Mayor Rick Gibbs
City of Menifee: Kalya Charters for Council Member Lesa Sobek
American Cancer Society: Cathy Zappia, Health Systems Manager
Michelle's Place: Marilyn Watson, President and Kim Goodnough, Executive Director
Loma Linda University Medical Center: Peter Baker, VP of Operations and Cheryl Allred, Radiology Director
Temecula Valley Hospital: Darlene Wetton, CEO
UC San Diego Health: Brandon Chase, Business Development
Medical Doctors: Dr. David Horner, Dr. Evelyn Mendoza

COMMITTEE BUSINESS
1. Cancer Patient and Caregiver Testimonials: Natalie Flute and JJ Petchel (with video of wife
Tawyna Petchel) provided information about their cancer journey and reasons for interest in
this Task Force. Also, Andrea Anderson, Office Manager for Dr. Bruce Hayton, provided
information as to the financial and insurance issues cancer patients face.
2. Presentations:
a. Cheryl Kitzerow, City of Temecula provided a presentation on the status of current
multi-agency funding. Four cities (Temecula, Murrieta, Menifee, Lake Elsinore) and the
County of Riverside will be contributing WRCOG grants in various amounts, and IEHP has
pledged $20,000.
b. Erica Russo, City of Temecula discussed administrative items, and provided a presentation
on the results of requests for Facilitator and Consultant Proposals. Health Assessment and
Research for Communities (HARC) was selected by the Advisory Committee.
c. Jenna LeComte-Hinely, HARC, provided a detailed presentation introducing HARC and
explaining the process for acquiring and evaluating data requested by this task Force.
3. Discussion (Facilitated by HARC): Jenna LeComte-Hinely of HARC facilitated a discussion
with the Task Force regarding the data evaluation process, conducting a comprehensive
assessment of cancer care in Southwest Riverside County, and facilitation of Task Force.
