A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TEMECULA, AUTHORIZING TEMPORARY STREET CLOSURE
OF OLD TOWN FRONT STREET BETWEEN MORENO ROAD
AND 2ND STREET; MAIN STREET FROM THE BRIDGE TO OLD
TOWN FRONT STREET; 2ND STREET; 3RD STREET; 4TM
STREET; 5TM STREET; AND 6TM STREET FOR THE "STAR
SPANGLED 4TM OF JULY PARADE" AND AUTHORIZING THE
DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER TO ISSUE
SPECIAL EVENTS PERMIT INCLUDING STREET CLOSURES
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMECULA DOES RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND
ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, The California State Vehicular Code provides for the promulgation of rules
and regulations for the temporary closure of public streets by local authorities by Resolution;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish rules and regulations for the temporary
closure of public streets in the interest of promoting safety and protection; and
WHEREAS, The City of Temecula sponsors the annual "Star Spangled 4t~ of July
Parade", for which such temporary street closures promote the safety and protection of persons
using or proposing to use that street or streets for the special event; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to facilitate the issuance of permission to
temporarily close public streets for this annual "Star Spangled 4~h of July Parade; and,
NOW, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to authorize the Director of Public
Works/City Engineer to approve temporary street closures for the annual "Star Spangled 4th of
July Parade", and to establish the general rule that all other proposed temporary street closures
shall be reviewed and approved subject to conditions, or disapproved, by the City Council; and
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Temecula, hereby
authorizes the Director of Public Works/City Engineer to permit temporary street closures for the
annual "Star Spangled 4th of July Parade" on July 4, 2001, and affirms the general rule that all
other temporary public street closures shall be approved or denied approval by the City Council.

a regular meeting held on the 26th day of June, 2001.
