A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TEMECULA, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING STREET
CLOSURES FOR THE STREET PAINTING FESTIVAL AND
GREAT RACE EVENTS, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY
ENGINEER TO ISSUE A PERMIT FOR THESE SPECIFIC
SPECIAL EVENTS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMECULA DOES RESOLVE, DETERMINE
AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the California State Vehicular Code provides for the promulgation of rules
and regulations for the temporary closure of public streets by local authorities by Resolution;
and,
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish rules and regulations for the temporary
closure of public streets in the interest of promoting safety and protection; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Temecula desires to authorize the closure of public streets for
the Street Painting Festival and Great Race Event sponsored by the City of Temecula, for which
such temporary street closures promote the safety and protection of persons using or proposing
to use those streets for the special event; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to facilitate the issuance of permission to
temporarily close public streets for the Street Painting Festival and Great Race Event; and,
NOW, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to authorize the City Engineer to approve
temporary street closures for the Street Painting Festival and Great Race Event sponsored by
the City of Temecula, and to establish the general rule that all other proposed temporary street
closures shall be reviewed and approved subject to conditions, or disapproved, by the City
Council; and,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Temecula, hereby
authorizes the City Engineer to permit temporary street closures for the Street Painting Festival
scheduled from 6:00 AM Saturday June 22nd, 2002 to 5:00 PM Sunday June 23'd, 2002 and
Great Race Event scheduled from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM Saturday June 22nd, 2002 and
establishes the general rule that all other temporary public street closures shall be approved or
denied approval by the City Council.

a regular meeting held on the 11th day of June 2002.
