R:\CSCAGEND2011\07112011 Trails and Bikeways Map Revisions.doc ITEM NO. 2 CITY OF TEMECULA AGENDA REPORT TO: Community Services Commission FROM: Herman D. Parker, Director of Community Services DATE: July 11, 2011 SUBJECT: Old Town Temecula Community Theater Recap and Temecula Presents 2011-2012 Season preview PREPARED BY: Bruce A. Beers, Theater Manager RECOMMENDATION: That the Community Services Commission receive and file the report recapping the activity during the 2010-2011 season at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater and previewing the upcoming Temecula Presents 2011-2012 season. BACKGROUND: During the sixth season at the Theater and through our participation in the InnerState Dance Project, funded by the James Irvine Foundation, two ground-breaking "reverse" dance residencies were created that have called state-wide attention to our program. As, a part of the Big Band series, our first mini-jazz festival was produced with ensembles varying from soloists to an eighteen-member jazz band. The Classical series saw the introduction of the new Artistic Director and Conductor for the California Chamber Orchestra, Dana Zimbric, and the wonderful spirit that she brought to this lush and provocative music. Temecula Presents upcoming seventh season will feature four top-notch, professional dance companies, six concerts by the All Star Big Band and the Cabaret Pops Orchestra, seven concerts in the classical music series, and six Friday Night Groove concerts featuring outstanding blues, jazz, and world music artists. These distinct artistic genres were chosen to complement the other fine performances at the Theater.
