Speakers are limited to three (3) minutes each. If you desire to speak to the,Commissioners about an item not listed on the Agenda, a green "Request to Speak" form should be filled out and filed with the Commission Secretary. When you are called to speak, please come forward and state your name and address. For all other agenda items, a "Request to Speak" form must be filed with the Community Services Commission Secretary before the item is addressed by the Commission. There is a three (3) minute time limit for individual speakers. NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC The agenda packet (including staff reports) will be available for public viewing in the Main Reception area at the Temecula Civic Center(41000 Main Street,Temecula)after 4:00 PM the Friday before the Community Services Commission meeting. Hawkins, Director of Community Services DATE: October 14, 2013 SUBJECT: PARK RANGER PROGRAM UPDATE PREPARED BY: Julie Pelletier, Recreation Superintendent RECOMMENDATION: Receive and file this report DISCUSSION: In 2007, the City of Temecula hired two staff members and began the Park Ranger Program. The primary objective of the program is to provide citizens with ambassadors representing the City within the park setting. The purpose of the program is to monitor park use and to provide citizens with valuable information and resources regarding the City's park system. The Park Rangers are also responsible for helping residents understand the established park rules and regulations as part of their outreach duties. Within the City of Temecula's twenty-six mile radius there are thirty-nine City maintained parks,ten City-operated facilities and numerous City-sponsored special events that all benefit from the support provided by the Park Rangers: The Park Rangers are scheduled to work both day and evening shifts to patrol the parks, and have the authority to issue citations as deemed appropriate. This evening, Park Rangers Phillip Jackson and Sergio Raya will provide an overview and additional information regarding the Park Ranger Program.
